Girls, listen up. I know there has been a lot of confusion as to what the proper order of skincare products should be. This is why, today, I’m going to send you a list of definitive steps. Follow this for your nighttime and daytime beauty routine.
In the AM
Cleanse – you can either go with a cleanser or just use plain water for this. The oiliness level of your skin should be the one to determine this.
Tone – toners are for balancing your skin’s pH levels. It is also meant for giving back lost moisture from your skin done by cleansing.
Serum – if you want to benefit from your products, then you won’t go wrong in going for a lightweight formula that is packed with active ingredients. This is the skin-perfecting step so make sure that you choose one that addresses your skin’s needs.
Moisturize – seal everything in with a layer of moisturizer.
Sunscreen – don’t forget to protect your skin from the harsh UV rays of the sun too.
In the PM
Remove makeup – I always use an oil-based makeup remover to get rid of all the makeup, the gunk, and the dirt from my face.
Cleanse – for this, I use a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil to wash away the makeup remover and the rest of the dirt that have lodged itself on my pores.
Exfoliate – I only do this once or twice a week but what this does is remove layers of dead skin cells that can impede a bright and glowing complexion.
Tone – granted that our faces are now thoroughly cleaned, what we want to do next is to add back lost moisture from all the cleansing.
Mask – sometimes, you want a bit of pampering too so go ahead and apply a mask as you relax and unwind.
Serum – a dime-sized amount should do.
Moisturizer – don’t forget to seal all your hard work with a cream.
Eye cream – finish up by tapping an eye cream into the skin around your eyes.
